THE INVISIBLES AT THE DAP
Milan, May 23 2024 EVENT
In THE DAP space at the Dei Missaglia Art Park, “Gli Invisibili” (The Invisibles) event took place: a discussion and fashion show to present the fantastic outfits designed and made by the students of the Istituto Kandinsky using fabric donated by Giorgio Armani, with the artistic direction of the stylist Gianluca Capannolo and in collaboration with Ethicarei, a network of certified ethical suppliers in the fashion industry who promoted and coordinated this important project.
Special guests at the event, the Toledo sisters, the designer Gentucca Bini, the singer Gaia and for Armani, Rossella Ravagli and Andrea Camerana. Together with Urban Up and the Fondazione Comunità di Milan who believed in the project and supported the event.
Who are the Invisibles? They are all those - according to students at the Istituto Kandinsky - who live around us, who we meet on the street, who we see sitting on a tram or in the metro but we do not notice them and we do not perceive their sadness and their discomfort. It is difficult to notice these people because they often choose to make themselves invisible out of modesty or worse, out of fear. Yet, there are so many of them.
It is precisely the Invisibles that the Kandinsky fashion industry students dedicated their splendid creations to under the guidance of Gianluca Capannolo, who provided all his expertise, creativity, love for his profession and new generations.
More than 30 fantastic garments were paraded one after the other with the direction of Capannolo transforming THE DAP space into an unprecedented and innovative catwalk. Every garment was a totem, a spokesperson of a message and an invitation to reflect to find the visibility necessary to help those founding values of a society that wants to include and leave no one behind to emerge - and even re-emerge.
The photographic reportage created by students of the Istituto Kandinsky graphics Department and set up throughout THE DAP space was also very evocative.
A series of shots that documented the Invisibles who live in Gratosoglio. With photographic stories about people, their gestures and places of solidarity, the students were able to masterfully represent the people who populate this neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city. As everyone is aware, profound change can only be achieved if we act as a community and not as individuals.
