The "Velasca project design" competition returns


After a very successful first edition, the Velasca Project Design competition is back

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of the Velasca Tower, designed by the famous BBPR group of Milanese architects in the 1950s, as part of the Urban Up real estate redevelopment project the Unipol Group has launched the second editionof the competition that involves the most important design schools in Milan. The competition was born two years ago with the objective of investing in the promotion of design culture and architecture and promoting the creativity of young designers in the shadow of a powerful symbol of cultural innovation.
The theme of this second edition will be LIGHT, and the challenge for the young designers will be to create a lamp that illuminates the public spaces of the iconic Velasca Tower.

Again this year the projects will be judged by a jury of an extraordinary caliber:

  • Antonio Citterio, architect and designer
  • Fulvio Irace, architectural historian and professor of Milan Polytechnic
  • Massimiliano Morrone, Head of Asset & Investment Management Real Estate and SGR Immobiliare Unipolsai Assicurazioni
  • Marinella Patetta, architect and light designer
  • Antonella Ranaldi, architect, Superintendent of Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Milan, Bergamo, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza, Pavia, Sondrio, and Varese
  • Attilio Stocchi, Architect
