Kid’s Factory: among the 402 projects the winner is “Forest of Columns”


The exhibition and the awards ceremony of the projects that were part of the international architecture competition launched in collaboration with YAC

Yesterday the Awards Ceremony for the KID’S FACTORY International Competition took place at Torre Velasca in which Urban Up | Unipol challenged young architects of under 35 from all over the world to redesign the old Laveno Mombello ceramic factory that has been abandoned for decades with a campus for young people of 27,000 m².
The ceremony was preceded by an interesting talk on themes relating to contemporary architecture projects without neglecting the protection of historical heritage in which Frans Van Vuure from UNStudio, Anastasia Kucherova from BOERI Architetti, Maurice Kanah from BG&K and Giuseppe Lobalsamo from Gruppo Unipol all took part.

Among the 402 projects which came from 90 different countries from Argentina to Vietnam, the jury selected 3 winners, 4 Gold Mentions and 10 Honourable Mentions.

The first prize was awarded to Simona Hadzhieva (Bulgaria); second prize went to TEAM UrbanJungle (Italy) composed of Giovanna de Simone and Matteo Amicarella and third prize went to the team from qusp_lab (Italy) composed of Alessandro Querzola and Matteo Speraddio.
